ESCALANTE ORTIZ, Lucia

Lucia Emperatriz Escalante Ortiz is a Peruvian agronomist and researcher specializing in soil science and sustainable agriculture. She holds a bachelor's and engineering degree in agronomy from the Universidad Nacional de Cajamarca and a master's in agricultural sciences from the University of Arkansas. Currently, she works as a researcher at the Instituto Nacional de InnovaciĆ³n Agraria (INIA), focusing on agromorphological characterization and training programs for kiwicha cultivation. She has also served as a research assistant at the University of Arkansas and teaches at the Universidad Nacional de Cajamarca.


Her scientific contributions include research on soil properties, nematode populations, and sustainable crop management, published in peer-reviewed journals such as Applied Soil Ecology. She has authored manuals on agronomic practices and presented at international conferences. Recognized for her academic excellence, she has received prestigious scholarships, including the Fulbright postgraduate scholarship and an English language scholarship from PRONABEC. Her work aims to enhance agricultural sustainability and productivity through innovative research and education.
